The lodge is 5 minutes from the village and river of Urubamba, right in the middle of the Sacred Valley. The train station to Machu Picchu is only 20 minutes away. Most of the archeological sites and activities around the beautiful Sacred Valley are within 30 minutes drive and Cusco itself is 1 hour away.
With sustainability foremost, the lodge was built using traditional local Andean construction materials: stone, eucalyptus and adobe.
The casitas are sited around a large central garden with winding paths, scented pergolas and flower arches. The gardens are the spirit of Casa Colibri, brimming with local flora which encourage a huge variety of birds and insects - the Chelsea flower show gone wild Andean style!
As well as the flower gardens, there are kitchen gardens producing organic vegetables, and providing a home for our lovely egg-laying hens. Just off the kitchen gardens there is a bbq area and a play area for the children.
Amongst the gardens we have the clubhouse with a bar and dining area, as well as a reading room with books, tv and a laptop with internet access available for use. There is wifi available in the clubhouse and in some spots around the gardens. Not far off from the clubhouse there is a purpose-built meditation room useful for yoga groups, small conferences or workshops.
